I meet an abandoned bridge in Providence, RI, on September 21, 2025. I return to it, from now and then, along with journaling for every visit. Up until today, August 10, 2026, I have been there 70 times, with 28,798 written words – my second language. The rule is: regardless of any conditions, I must write it down on the same day I visited. I must write it down honestly as much as I can and stay true to my own experience. I then sit down somewhere, gather people around, and read my writing to the person sitting in front of me. I have been reading alongside the city river, public hall, an empty restaurant, shared studios. The reading time varies from 2 hours to 5 so far. Sometimes it lasts for 1 day, sometimes 9 days. On occasion, I invite one listener to walk back to the bridge with me. The logic is: walk towards it, write of it, read for it, return to it, continue writing about it. Usually, writing and walking are more stable. So far, the future stage of this abandoned architecture remains uncertain. I say I will keep sustaining this system as long as I have the emotion to walk back to it.
Once I lose my emotion for it, I shall stop.
